OzProg Newsletter #009 - December 2008 WELCOME As if this time of year wasn't hectic enough, I bring you the final OzProg newsletter for 2008! The big news this week is for Melbourne OzProggers: the much anticipated Prog Fest is finally upon us, and in just a few short days six of Australia's best progressive bands will descend on the East Brunswick Club to help you shake off all that Christmas cheer. Headlining the show on December 27th are Ne Obliviscaris (fresh from their tour with Psycroptic), and they will be joined by sleepmakeswaves (straight from Sydney), Mushroom Giant (playing songs from Kuru and some new stuff), A State Of Flux (launching the single "Pulse; Impulse"), New Born and Purple Elephant. You can still buy tickets from the EBC box office and website (www.eastbrunswickclub.com) for $17, or $20 if they're still available on the door. FEATURED ARTIST - TOE HIDER Toe Hider is a one-man studio project by Michael Mills of Melbourne prog wunderkinds Template. With equally-sized tips of the hat to Queen and cartoon theme songs of the 1980s, if you're a sucker for prog rock done old school (from 70s King Crimson to 90s Dream Theater), Toe Hider is certainly for you. And if you're like me and have moved on from your days as a Dream Theater fanboy, Toe Hider is definitely for you too. It'll make you remember why you fell in love with prog in the first place.
