HELLO, HELLO, HELLO...
Is there anybody in there?
G'day, and welcome to the special inaugural issue of the OzProg email newsletter. Hold onto it, in 25 years this collectible will get thousands on eBay.
You are receiving this newsletter because you are either a member of the OzProg forums and gave us your email address, or you're a friend of OzProg. But don't worry, you won't receive it any more unless you go to the website actively sign up.
To let us know you want to receive this newsletter from now on, simply reply to this message or go to www.ozprog.com/newsletter and enter your email address.
Now that's out of the way, let's get straight down to it.
WHAT'S NEW
It's an exciting time for Australian music fans: Dream Theater have just completed their hugely successful maiden tour, Coheed and Cambria and Porcupine Tree have recently announced tours of their own, and a slew of highly-anticipated Australian CDs are set for release in the coming weeks.
On OzProg, we recently spoke to Coheed and Cambria guitarist Travis Stever about their upcoming Aussie tour, the important topic of what they'll call their band after the Coheed and Cambria story is finished, and much more. They'll be here at the end of March, so if you don't have tickets already you better get cracking!
Other recent interviews include Mike Weiss from indie-prog band mewithoutYou (who will be here as part of Soundwave next week) and Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish.
WHAT'S COMING UP
Coming up in the next few weeks we have interviews with Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Lauren Harris (daughter of Iron Maiden's Steve) and Tobias Sammett (Avantasia), so look out for those!
There are also a few little surprises which we haven't quite confirmed 100% yet, so make sure you're checking the website often to keep up.
PORCUPINE TREE COMPETITION
Last but not least we have a great competition running where you can win a double pass to see Porcupine Tree in your city, as well as a copy of their latest album Fear Of A Blank Planet and an OzProg.com T-shirt.
All you have to do is copy our Porcupine Tree banner to your website, MySpace profile, Facebook page or wherever, email the link to ptcomp@ozprog.com (subject line "Porcupine Tree Competition") and you're in the running! We also have four runner-up prizes of a copy of Fear Of A Blank Planet and an OzProg.com badge, so start posting that banner around!
