A walk through OzProg v2

> Posted on April 28th, 2007 by Bradley Dixon

It's been almost a year in the making, and it's finally here: OzProg version two. So what's new? What's been changed? Will it make you coffee? All these questions and more will be answered as I take you through the new and improved OzProg.com.

The most immediately obvious change to the website is the groin-grabbingly sexy new look, but we've made some extreme changes to the underlying structure of the site and the way it works in order to increase the amount (and quality) of content we provide.

Unfortunately OzProg is still unable to brew you the perfect cappuccino, but look out for that one in v3.

Blogs

Yes, the buzz-word of Web 2.0 has made its way into OzProg.

Blogs will serve as a way for our regular contributors to write articles, columns and opinion pieces on just about any topic imaginable (though, obviously, with a slant towards progressive Australian music). Basically, anything that isn't a review or an interview will now be posted as a blog, so it should prove to be a diverse and interesting section of OzProg.

To begin with we only have a few blog contributors, but if you think you'd be able to write high quality, interesting, regular articles, then get in touch with us!

Services

OzProg has always existed to help unsigned bands promote themselves without having to spend thousands of dollars on expensive service providers, but until now we haven't incorporated that side of OzProg into our website.

But that's all changed with our new Services section. We will begin to list some of the services we offer to bands in this new area, so if you're in a band and are looking for some help with promotion, do yourself a favour and check it out!

We're also working to partner up with companies who provide services other than those we handle through OzProg, and eventually hope to set up some discounts and special offers for OzProg bands - so watch this space!

Improved news

OzProg v1 exclusively reported on only Australia-specific news articles, but we've decided to start keeping you updated with some of the more interesting news from overseas as well.

Of course, our main committment is still to Australian music and Australian music fans, so if you're in an Aussie band and would like your news to appear on OzProg, go ahead and submit it.

RSS Feeds

Keeping up to date with all the news, reviews and other content posted on OzProg has been made even easier with the addition of RSS feeds. Currently there is a news feed and a content feed, so if you're not sure what RSS is, check out the Wikipedia article for a good introduction and get started.

New Contributors

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Adam Di Luzio and Andrew Carolan to the team - Adam has written a couple of great reviews for us in the past, so he might be a familiar name already, and Andrew is a new addition from Hobart (but please, don't hold that against him).

We're always on the lookout for people who can write high quality articles, so if you'd like to contribute, make yourself known!

So that's it for this introduction to OzProg v2. As with any website upgrade there are bound to be some fuck ups, so if you encounter any errors please let me know. Happy OzProggin'!
